Electrode Placement Tips
Correct electrode placement is the single most important factor in achieving effective results. Here is how to get it right every time:
Clean and dry the skin before placing electrodes. Remove any lotion, oil or sweat. Clean skin improves conductivity and adhesion significantly.
Place pads on the belly of the muscle , not over joints, bones or tendons. The electrical current needs to pass through muscle tissue for effective stimulation.
Maintain a minimum distance of 2 cm between electrode pads . If pads are too close, the current shortcircuits between them rather than traveling through the muscle.
Refer to the electrode positioning guide for each muscle group. Incorrect placement reduces effectiveness and can cause discomfort.
Do not place electrodes over the chest, neck or head . Never position pads so that the electrical current passes through the heart area.
Press pads firmly and evenly onto the skin. Poor adhesion causes uneven current distribution, discomfort and reduced effectiveness.
Getting the Most from Your Programs
Start at a low intensity and increase gradually . The ideal EMS working intensity is the highest level that is still comfortable and produces strong visible contractions. Do not push through sharp pain.
Use the correct program for your goal . TENS programs (typically low frequency, continuous mode) are designed for pain relief. EMS programs (burst mode, higher frequency) are for muscle strengthening. Massage programs use intermediate settings for relaxation and circulation.
Contract the target muscle actively during EMS training . Voluntarily tensing the muscle alongside the electrical stimulation maximizes the training benefit.
Allow at least 48 hours between EMS training sessions for the same muscle group. Just like conventional resistance training, muscles need recovery time between sessions.
Follow a consistent schedule . Results from electrostimulation accumulate over weeks of consistent use. Three to four sessions per week for 6–8 weeks produces the most significant visible changes.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
No sensation / device seems not to be working
Check that the lead cables are fully inserted into both the device and the snap connectors on the electrode pads. Ensure the skin is clean and the pads are firmly adhered. Try increasing intensity gradually from zero.
Uneven or uncomfortable sensation
This is usually caused by poor electrode adhesion. Remove the pads, clean the skin thoroughly, and reapply. If pads have been used many times, the gel may be exhausted — replace with new pads.
Pads not sticking
Store pads on their protective film after use and keep them in a sealed bag. Exposure to air degrades the hydrogel adhesive. Apply a very small amount of water to the gel surface to revive adhesion if it has weakened slightly.
Device turns off during use
Check battery level or charge status. For rechargeable models, ensure the device was fully charged before the session. Replace batteries if using AA/AAA powered models.
Maintenance and Care
Store electrode pads on their plastic film after every use to preserve the hydrogel adhesive. Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Wipe the device body with a dry cloth . Never immerse in water. Avoid using alcohol-based cleaners on the device housing.
Inspect lead cables regularly for kinks, fraying or damage at the connectors. Damaged leads should be replaced immediately.
Replace electrode pads when adhesion fails or after approximately 30–40 uses. Using worn pads reduces effectiveness and may cause skin irritation.
Keep the device away from strong electromagnetic fields , such as those produced by MRI machines, large industrial motors or high-voltage power lines.
